Sikhism is a 500-year-old monotheistic religion founded by Guru Nanak. Its egalitarian nature emphasizes equality for all, self-realization, social justice, and freedom. It enjoins followers to remember God within always, to make an honest living, and to share the rewards of earning with others through community service. A Sikh believes that all creation is an extension of WaheGuru (God) and so every human being has that spark of divine within. This human life is the only opportunity for the soul to merge in the divine.
