The Emergency Directory

It is also known as The Emergency Food, Shelter and Health Care Directory. By conservative estimates, this vest-pocket directory is consulted 300,00 times a year, and probably the actual number of consults is closer to 1 million or more, especially in the steep economic downturn. Its target population is clinical social workers, counselors, psychologists, shelter workers, cleregy and all whose job it is ( or who are likely to) help people find temporary shelter for their families, or emergency food or health care. It also lists hotline and social services phone numbers and sometimes e-mail addresses.

The Emergency Directory is the only directory of its kind for the whole Washington, DC, metropolitan region. The only direct social action that the InterFaithr Conference provides is to annually update the listings in this critical directory, with the help of a couple of our summer interns. Your prompt reply is requested and much appreciated when it comes to update the listings, so we send no one who is in dire need on a useless chase.
